Brandon Sanderson’s Announcements From Dragonsteel Con 2022!
Brandon Sanderson announced a few things from his Dragonsteel 2022 convention in Salt Lake City today. The Credible Nerds were there and are excited for these announcements!
The Final Skyward book is titled - Defiant! It will be released Nov 2023 and will be the focus of Dragonsteel Con 2023.
Brandon Sanderson plans on writing about 38 books total for the Cosmere. He revealed that it was recommended by a friend that he do 16 novels in the Mistborn story as there are 16 metals and that it would be a cool tie in. While the audience loved the idea, Brandon didn’t commit to that suggestion.
Brandon Sanderson, and his long time author friend, Dan Wells will be writing a novel version of The Dark One graphic novel soon. Which is a good move as the graphic novel version was extremely limited and not a lot of people were able to snag it. (Luckily, I was able to get one!)
Also, Dan Wells is joining Dragonsteel as part of the staff and will help out Brandon with the massive amount of work needing to be done. Dan will continue to write his own novels and still be engaged in his own career.
Stormlight Archive Book 5 should come out November 2024.
After Stormlight Archive 5, Brandon will sit down with his team and outline and plan out the remainder of the Cosmere novels and the order of publication.
Brandon announced that the four Secret Novel projects that will be published during 2023 and that were the subject of the biggest Kickstarter campaign ever, will be published by TOR next year as well. TOR’s version of the novels will be released a few weeks after the Kickstarter novels are shipped out to the backers.
Brandon Sanderson hints about opening a Dragonsteel museum someday with the out of universe history of how the Cosmere came to be and was developed over the years. Along with lots of in universe and out of universe memorabilia that was created along the way. There was a mini version of this at Dragonsteel 2022 and it was pretty cool. Hopefully if there is an official permanent version - it will be bigger with more memorabilia.
