Chris Evans Back as Captain America?
Today’s internet rumor that all of a sudden popped up everywhere, is that Chris Evans is in talks to return as Captain America, Steve Rogers, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There has been rampant speculation that he wouldn’t necessarily have his own movie, but that he would show up in a supporting role in a different MCU film. Or perhaps with the recent success of Disney+ and the upcoming slate of Marvel streaming shows, Cap may appear in one of these shows, et al. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Chris Evan’s response? He tweeted out earlier today, “News to me.”
While there is zero evidence that Evans will be back as Steve Rogers, I’ve learned that where there’s smoke, there’s fire with these rumors. So my guess is that there will be some sort of short cameo in one the upcoming Disney+ series. And who knows, with the right story and show runner, we may see Captain America pop up in his own series. If you remember, Steve Rogers went back in time and never returned, choosing instead to live his life with Peggy Carter so there were two Steve Rogers’ in the same timeline . We could potentially get stories involving Future Steve during the same time as Original Steve was alive. This could perhaps explain how Steve and his airplane was found buried in the snow - Future Steve revealed to SHIELD where to look.
Regardless, we have a ways to go before Captain America returns to action, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.
