Read MoreThe Credible Nerds watched The New Mutants last night. After two years of delays, the film finally premiered in theaters!
This movie is definitely an X-Men movie and makes occasional references to the main storyline, however it is not the typical X-Men movie. But keep your eyes and ears open for those references! There are 6 main characters (that we haven’t seen on screen before) that you follow throughout the story and the story mostly takes place in one location.
The New Mutants is a character based story and unlike the other films, there is no world ending event, an alien invasion, or millions of people aren’t at risk of being killed. Instead it’s a more intimate story about relationships, making new friends, and coming to terms with new mutant powers.
One thing about this film that stands out from the others, is that it is creepy scary! A lot of jump scares (that aren’t cheesy or forced) and some ‘WTF is happening!’ moments that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. This brought a whole new element to the X-Men movies that I hope gets revisited at some point down the road.
Marc and I thought that it was refreshing to have this new take with a superhero movie, and we recommend seeing it in theaters, if you are willing and able to go see it in theaters.
The Credible Nerds will be recording a podcast episode to fully review the film and give our thoughts on The New Mutants, so look for that to be released in the next couple of weeks.
We have been invited to join a good group of other Wheel of Time podcasts to put together a live broadcast of shows for 24 hours! We will each take a block of time, The Fourth Ta’veren will be on from 9:45 pm to 11 pm MST, to talk the Wheel of Time!

Read MoreI have to admit that up until recently, Attack of the Clones was one of my least favorite Star Wars movies. I would alternate between Episode II and Return of the Jedi as my least favorite of the Saga. However, during a recent re-watch of the Saga, I realized just how good Attack of the Clones really is and how many important and critical moments there are in this Episode of the Saga.
Read MoreAs this year is the 20th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, I decided to write down a few things, 15 of them in fact, that I like about The Phantom Menace. This movie lays a lot of groundwork for the Star Wars Skywalker Saga and introduces characters, organizations, and the Force that we will revisit over and over again throughout the course of the next 10 films.

Read MoreIt’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan! We should be celebrating our similarities and not ridiculing our differences. I recommend reaching out to fellow Star Wars fans and discuss the good things you like about the Saga, take time to see why they are a fan and what they like. Overall, be grateful that we have a franchise that has endured decades of storytelling and creativity.
